Hello Everyone,

I'm a beginning guitar player and I'm learning Sleeping My Day Away. Can someone tell me how to recreate the twangy guitar sound used in Sleeping My Day Away, Point of View, etc? I'm looking for guitar type, amp, and effects used. I have a Les Paul Standard and a Spider III modeling amp if that helps.

I apologize if this isn't the proper place to ask this question.

Thanks,
Chuck

Well i don't excatley know how that "Twangy" sound was made.
But! try to use the middle pick-up. Maby it works?
On fender, Squier models and other guitars with single-coil pick up's it gives a Twangy/Funky sound.
But as far as i know a Les Paul have Humbucker pick up's so don't know if that will work.

Btw: I'm not good at the technic. Only playing. I'm only gessing on how that sound was done.

Yes, I've found the middle pickup setting works best, but I still haven't managed to get just the right sound.

Maby it's just because your guitar is best to playing rock.
Cobber played Sleeping... on a 62 Fender Jazzmaster. That guitar are built for Twnagy sounds.
That's probarly why it's difficult to get the right sound.

A Gretsch G5125-29 is a good & twangy budget axe. Try out a single coil version, not a 5120.

Cheapish Reissue Jazzmasters all suffer from bad pickups & sound more like Strats than Jazzmasters.

Sleeping was recorded with a G&L guitar... not a jazzmaster...

Thanks for the suggestions. I'll try a different guitar.
