I think it was a nice victory for metal, leaving mainstream average Eurovision songs behind. This is a new era for metal! Winning the Eurovision 2006... :-D:-D:-D:-D:-D:-D:-D

It had nothing to do with metal.... If I should call it anything I would call it pop-metal (I just created a new genre) Smiley-laugh

Beside I think the Eurovision Songcontest is just putting the whole musicindustry in a very bad light. I mean it's all about having a 100% commercial song with no substance or quality. You simply can't hear the music because it's so "perfect"!

How funny.

Last night I got a text message from a friend saying "Send 'Sang 17' to 1212 now", and so I was thinking that it probably was so he could win something in a Boogie-competition (let it be said, that I don't have a TV nor any sense of what's going on anywhere).

So I sended the text message to 1212, and later I was told by my friend, that it was a vote for Finland of the Eurovision Contest.

And then I come in here and find out Finland won. Congratulations!

I was at the concert in Viborg last night, and the conferencier said that Lordi won. I saw an interview with the leadsinger in the news today, and he said that it was a great victory, not only for Finland and Lordi - but for Rockmusic.. Could you agree more??

no names mentioned,
but why do some people have to take thigs so bloody serious all the time?
Eurovison is pure musical cheese, the fact for E.V a bizarre act won who just happen to have metal roots is to me fantastic and hilarious!
even more so when you look at all the half naked women gyrating to pop, yet a bunch of rockers in latex masks were preferable to the masses!
so, to all those who tuned in last night, laughed & cringed at the so called 'best' of European music, but still raised a devil hand and laughed with sheer joy at the winners...
'F*ck Yeah'!
good on ya!

I still wanted Silvia Nótt to win, but alas, she didn't advance to the finals.

I think Hard Rock Hallelujah was a very catchy rock song and certainly a lot of fun. I think it won because it - and the band - stood out, not necessarily because it was the better song.

Congratulations to Finland. It was your turn. Smiley-wink

After all, Mr. Lordi is the head of Kiss Army over here....and that era you did listen to last week:) I kinda of thinks that being the 0 points (Finland) in that laa-laa competition for centuries this was a bloody fucking great thing to happen!! How many singing strippers we can watch/listen year after year, really?Maybe this changed the course of laa-laa competion for ever? I should hope so........

And besides, did you guys know, that Nightwish was trying to get into the competition few years back........

It wasn't that "hard" track as they usually do. Electric drums, no distortion guitar etc. But they also released it as a "heavy" version with all the rock'n'roll goodies... Smiley-midget

"Nor the whole mask-thing. Besides, a lot of children are watching it, and Slipknot-clones shouldn't be on TV, when children are watching."

I haven't really understood that opinion yet. This thread might help me. But I don't understand it because:
There's a lot of women who writes letters to the newspapers (læserbreve) with an opinion like that. Yet they let their children watch half naked women without raising an eyebrow?

I know there is a difference between a masked monster and a naked female, but I think it's kinda a double standard of morality. The masked man is scary, the half naked woman shows that it's ok to let your children get used to the fact, that woman often have to be half naked on stage.

Speaking of halfnaked I actually do think, that the women in this years finally was more dressed, than the last couple of years. And they weren't skinny. So that made me happy Smiley-wink

And the finnish kids are not scared of Lordi, actually kids age 5-7 years are making Lordi-masks in kindergarden, and these kids are CRAZY about Lordi...=) I think those halfnaked women are more bad influence for kids than "fantasy-scary-monsters". Anyway, DAD should come to Finland, just because they won!! ;))

VD: as far as I can see, this topic is about "Hard RockHallelujah" by Lordi. So what's it all about, when you are accusing Sophia of thinking it's okay to let children watch "porn"? It's not at all what this is about. She just mentioned Lordi might be intimidating to children - what relation does it have to naked women?
(Besides, what's worst: naked women or people drinking?)

1. It wasn't meant as an accusation. I apologise (to Sophia) if it seemed like an attack.
2. So far I haven't understood the opinion stated about children shouldn't watch slipknot-clones.
I thought this thread was a good way for me to
A. state my opinion about the opinion and
B. get a chance to understand the opinion by getting a debate/discussion about the subject.

I understand now, when I re-read Sophias post and my post, that I indeed have accused Sophia for not minding the half naked women and the children. So I *do* apologise Smiley

But Mia, I wont comment on your last comment.

ps I think its very difficult to decide what is bad influence on viewers and what isn't.

Good picture, but that is not of Lordi. There's Children of Bodom's Laiho and Seppälä, at least. Laiho is on the right.

I'm sorry to say this, Tippi, but you look so lovely... Really!
